Valencia CF and the Food Bank Strengthen Their Support for Families in Need on 'Nit de Nadal'
During this season, the initiative includes the distribution of traditional Christmas goods as well as toys for children
Valencia CF president Layhoon Chan, club directors Khojama Kalimuddin and Ong Pang Liang, director and trustee of the VCF Foundation, Kim Huat Koh, trustees Salvador Belda and Salvador Martínez, director of the VCF Foundation Inma Ibáñez , and club legend Pepe Claramunt all attended the Escoles Cor Blanquinegre tournament held at the La Coma football facilities this week.
The Escoles Cor Blanquinegre project is celebrating its eighth consecutive year working with schools attended by children in difficult family and social situations. Jaume Doménech is the patron of the initiative this year.
The tournament brought together three of the 26 schools with which the VCF Foundation work: CEIP Antonio Ferrandis (La Coma, Paterna), CEIP Magisterio Español (La Plata, Valencia) and CEIP Les Arenes (Cabanyal, Valencia).
Some 40% of the participants in the tournament were girls, demonstrating the success of Escoles Cor Blanquinegre in promoting sport among young women and the work that is done to cultivate equal opportunities.
Headteachers Charo Fernández, Pilar González and Teresa Baldrés had the opportunity to explain the benefits that participation in the project is bringing to their educational centres.
CEIP Les Arenes has been integrated into the project for six years and CEIP Antonio Ferrandis for two, while CEIP Magisterio Español has joined this season -with results that have been very positive.
An educational tool for teachers and a motivational aid for students, the project continues to grow and have a positive impact on participants, their schools and their families.
